Implementing best practices at firms that wish to grow

Over the last handful of years, there have been opportunities between professional roles during which I had the privilege to consult with RIAs, FinTech platforms, and other firms within this space. While I have not devoted myself full-time to consulting work, I certainly enjoy working with firms to help them succeed when the opportunity presents itself. Below are just a few things I can do for your firm.

Total Brand Package

Sometimes you just need it all, and, want to rely on a specialist to provide it for you. In this case, I will happily help. I have built countless brands over the course of my career including full logo development; stationary & collateral design; website development; standing up social media channels; and much more. In fact, before my time in the financial services industry, I owned a marketing agency and built brands for countless small- and medium-size businesses. Truth be told, I love firing up design software and diving into the ideation process – it’s a genuine passion of mine.

What I find alarming is the heavy reliance on inexpensive marketing generalists or crowdsourcing on brand building. There is nothing more damaging to the potential growth of a firm than putting forward a vanilla, meaningless image to the market – especially when people are bombarded by nonsensical imagery already. RIAs, FinTech firms, and Wealth Management groups need to stand out in this clutter, and I can help.

Marketing Audit

What I have found when working with RIAs appears to be a common problem as it relates to Marketing: a team of high potential marketing professionals that have been added over time as the budget has increased, yet lack strategic vision, best practices, and key performance indicators. Normally I do not find RIAs that have “cracked the code” on Marketing and as a result, results are tepid and expectations are low. Ultimately Marketing becomes very passive and reactive, relying on traditional avenues to attract net new AUM.

My solution to this is a comprehensive Marketing Audit where I work along with key stakeholders to understand how things operate and ultimately how they should operate. This process includes three stage: Discovery, Analysis, and Assessment. Normally this involves one or two onsite visits and ends with a comprehensive, actionable report for the firm to implement.

Brand Guidelines, Brand Archetyping, Voice & Content Strategy

One of the lost arts in today’s modern marketing is the strict adherence to the components of what makes a brand unique; namely the visual guidelines, personality type, and voice that should harmonize into creating the perfect brand. Nowadays, the consumer is bombarded with so much content—cacophony to the highest degree—that firms must present themselves with crystalized messaging. More to this point: most RIAs and technology providers suffer from generic messaging and voice, limiting their ability to break through — we see it everyday.

I work closely with the executive team and marketing department to develop a well-thought out and easily executable strategy that will lead to attracting the ideal customer profile more efficiently.

I can help your firm grow

Implementing best practices after developing a foundational brand strategy is the only approach to unlocking growth. In fact, your firm can and will grow more than ever before. Modern marketing strategies help firms break through the cacophony, ensuring your message and value proposition get to the right prospects at the right time. I’ve done it before and I can do it for your firm.

My thoughts on growing your practice through Marketing

I joined a panel in 2023 at MarketCounsel’s highly-respected Summit where I discussed Modern Marketing strategies which include authentic messaging and strategically approaching the brand voice for your firm. Below I was interviewed by Suleman Din of Action! Magazine where I recapped my presentation. You can read the entire article here. Enjoy!
